Annual General Meeting

It is difficult to remember more trying times in agriculture and our area is as badly hit as any. The importance and benefits of co-operation in farming can be seen now more than ever before.

We are passionate that the co-operative model will help benefit all of our farmer members, but the only way it truly works is for the membership to be engaged in the co-op and to do as much with the business as possible. The more inputs you put through your co-op the lower our cost base and the lower our farm gate prices can be going forward. As a business we have two main objectives:-

  • To help our members run more effective and profitable businesses.
  • To keep the supply chain honest.

It is not just through lower input prices that we can help you run a more profitable business it is also through encouraging better practice, through farm open days, courses and peer to peer learning. To further our member offering we have teamed up with Farmer Network and become their main sponsor. You will have read last month that they too are farmer owned and our two businesses together are passionate about helping to ensure agriculture continues to thrive throughout the North of England.

Adam Day and Will Rawlings from The Farmer Network will be talking at our AGM, to tell us about their business, where it has come from, what it has achieved and its vision for the future.

In order for any co-operative to be successful it relies upon an engaged and committed membership as such we would be delighted if as many of you as possible could attend our AGM this year. Don’t forget that you own this business and we would very much welcome your input as to how we can best serve your business going forward.

Our AGM will be held at Aspatria Rugby Club, Bower Park, Aspatria on Wednesday 16 March 2016 at 7.00pm. The formalities of the AGM will be followed by the presentation by The Farmer Network and then a pie and pea supper. We look forward to seeing you there.
